What do you need to know about starting Willows Academy?

If you are starting your education journey with Willows in nursery or reception, we are sure you are excited and nervous about this milestone. The Early Years team at Willows endeavour to work with families to ensure that the transition to school is a positive one.

Over the years, we have developed the transition process to ensure that we take time to listen to the children and parents to minimise any worries and offer support.

If you have been informed that you have been allocated a place at Willows, we will be in touch soon with all the information you will need.

If you are joining Willows as an in-year transfer, Willows is a welcoming school and children quickly make friends and settle into our community. Children are given a buddy who will help them find their way round the school and learn the school routine.

What do you need to know if your child is leaving Willows Academy to move onto Secondary school?

We are incredibly proud of our year 6 children, and we understand that moving onto secondary school can be daunting. The transition process starts at the beginning of year 6 and through PSHE lessons and Thrive we support children with their emotions and prepare them for this milestone in their education.

When children leave Willows, they move onto one of many secondary schools available. The year 6 teacher, SENCO, and safeguarding lead work with your child’s chosen school to ensure that the transition runs as smoothly as possible.

If you have any concerns or worries please speak to your child’s class teacher or the SENCO.
